Eddy current sorting is a highly reliable non-destructive testing technique used to identify variations in material composition, hardness and heat-treatment condition in metallic components. Eddystar Max brings precision, speed and reliability to continuous production lines and 100% inspection.

Working principle

An alternating current through the probe coil generates a changing magnetic field. When a conductive component enters the field, eddy currents are induced, and any variation in the material alters the impedance. The signal is analysed and classified for sorting.

Sorting criteria

  • Material grade differences
  • Heat treatment variations
  • Hardness differences
  • Alloy composition
  • Coating thickness (selective applications)
  • Case depth (certain applications)

Applications

  • Automotive - fasteners, shafts, gears, bearings and more
  • Aerospace - critical safety components
  • Forging & heat treatment units - sorting of mixed batches
  • Steel & metal processing - alloy verification
  • Manufacturing & assembly lines - 100% inspection of components

Automation & feeding systems

Fully automated sorting solutions tailored to your production: vibratory bowl feeders, linear feeders, conveyor-based and gravity-feed systems, with cobot or industrial-robot handling, PLC-based control and sensor-based part tracking.

Custom design capability

Custom-built machines based on component geometry, integration with existing production lines, multi-channel sorting, high-speed rejection mechanisms, and online or offline inspection set-ups. Every system ships with customised fixtures and coils, installation and commissioning, operator training and after-sales support.
